Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Guadua Bamboo SAS. By accessing our website, purchasing our products, or participating in our programs, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. International Sales & Exports

  • Products: We specialize in high-quality treated Guadua poles, slats, and mats. We do not ship live seedlings.
  • Shipping & Risk: All international orders are processed as FOB Buenaventura (Free on Board). Risk of loss transfers to the customer once the container is delivered to the port of Buenaventura.
  • No Returns Policy: Due to the high cost of international freight and Colombian import duties, Guadua Bamboo SAS does not accept returns. All sales are final once the container departs from the port of Buenaventura.
  • Inspection & Claims: We encourage all buyers to inspect high-resolution photos or videos of their specific order prior to loading. Receipt of goods constitutes unqualified acceptance. Any claims for structural defects must be made in writing within seven (7) business days of receipt.
  • Partial Shipments: A defect in a small portion of the merchandise (e.g., individual poles) shall not be grounds for rejecting the entire shipment. At our discretion, a credit toward a future order may be issued for verified structural defects.

2. Natural Materials & Maintenance

  • Natural Characteristics: Bamboo is a natural product. Minor variations in diameter, color, shape, dark spots, and “checking” (small surface cracks) are natural characteristics and do not constitute a structural defect.
  • Organic Behavior: As a hygroscopic material, changes in humidity during ocean transit may cause dimensional changes or surface mold. Surface mold can be removed with standard cleaning and is a result of environmental conditions, not a product failure.

3. Adopt a Bamboo Program

  • Symbolic Participation: The Adopt a Bamboo program is a symbolic reforestation initiative. Participation does not grant legal ownership, title, or rights to the physical land or the plants at our farm in Dagua.
  • Fund Usage: Contributions go toward labor, organic fertilization, and maintenance of our reforestation sectors.
  • Non-Refundable: Donations to the Adopt a Bamboo program are considered final and non-refundable.

4. Intellectual Property & Photography

  • Technical Data: All grading tables and species lists are the proprietary property of Guadua Bamboo SAS.
  • Copyright: Most photos are taken by Stéphane Schröder and are protected by international copyright laws.
  • Usage: You may use our photos for NON-commercial purposes only, provided you give proper credit:

5. Liability & Governing Law

Guadua Bamboo SAS is not liable for delays caused by shipping lines, port strikes, or customs inspections. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Colombia, and any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Valle del Cauca.
