Today, groundworks have begun at Hacienda Guadua Bamboo. We are going to build a new bamboo preservation tank, a greenhouse, and road access for trucks. We are also creating a parking space for visitors.
Our bamboo treatment tank will measure 13 meters long by 2.5 meters wide and 1.8 meter deep. That’s about 48 cubic meters, enough for a production capacity of 3 x 40ft HC containers a month.
The greenhouse will be build on 4 terraces and covers a total area of 520 square meter (10 meters wide by 52 meters long). The estimated production capacity is set to an initial 20.000 bamboo plants per month.
New roads will connect all the different facilities in order for trucks to load and unload bamboo poles and plants.

Greetings from Timor-Leste!It’s great to know this project if yours. I wonder if you could share some of your knowledge around bamboo preservation. Am interested to understand it, since it is preserve underground. Is there any chemical materials involved, or is it fully organic? Thanks in advance.
Hi Kiera, we are building a concrete tank where the bamboo poles will be submerged for 5 days in a solution of water with boron salts. You can find much more details about the process in our chapter about Bamboo Preservation: https://www.www.guaduabamboo.com/blog/category/Bamboo+Preservation
